CaSSSA Statement of Commitment to Child Safety and Wellbeing

CaSSSA is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people who participate in CaSSSA activities.

CaSSSA is committed to Child Safety in accordance with the Queensland 10 Child Safe Standards and with adherence to the Universal Principle for Child Safe Organisations.

CaSSSA upholds the cultural safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people, and the safety and inclusion of children with disabilities and children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

CaSSSA has zero tolerance for child abuse, neglect, exploitation, bullying, harassment, discrimination, grooming behaviours, or harm of any kind. We are committed to creating and maintaining child-safe environments where the welfare of children and young people is paramount..

CaSSSA actively works to:

  • Create and maintain child-safe sporting environments

  • Promote the participation and empowerment of children

  • identify and assess risks of harm to children and young people

  • implement strategies to minimise those risks

  • respond promptly and appropriately to concerns, allegations, disclosures, or incidents

  • support compliance with the Child Safe Standards and Universal Principle

  • continually review and improve child-safe practices

CaSSSA recognises that safeguarding children and young people is a shared responsibility between CaSSSA, member schools, staff, volunteers, officials, contractors, parents/carers, and students.

The safety and wellbeing of children is always prioritised over organisational, competitive, or reputational considerations.
